I create mixed-media paintings that feature landscapes and the natural world in Santa Cruz. My passion for design and illustration come together in my work in the form of acrylic paint, stenciled patterns, and collage elements like magazine clippings and other scrap paper. When closely looking at my work, you’ll see layers of various media and hidden graphic treasures—all coming together to create a dynamic visual experience.

My process begins with a wooden canvas where I draw a favorite local place or animal inspired by reference images. After under-painting, the collage phase begins, deliberatly using the textures, colors and values in the clippings. By combining printed media and illustration with fast-drying acrylic paint, I provide a unique visual experience. Each piece is finished with UV protectant and a layer of gloss leveling gel to enhance the detail, color, and vibrancy of the piece. Creating these pieces for the public gives me an opportunity to showcase my beloved hometown and all of its natural beauty. My hope is to inspire others to appreciate and protect our extraordinary local environment.
